Did my first helicopter jump today at Kobelt Airport (aka the Nu-Cavu restaurant's backyard). Unfortunately, I didn't have a photographer along -- next time! (The shot above is one of my old skydiving photos.)
Anyway, the chopper jump was an awesome experience. The helicopter was so small, I had to sit in it sideways. We only went to 3,000 feet. Then I stepped out onto the skid facing the pilot and, as instructed, simply fell backwards. (The pilot said not to push off because that rocks the chopper like crazy!). It was so peaceful, falling into nothingness and then gracefully turning belly-to-earth. Of course, that was all of three seconds -- then I "popped" and flew to the grassy area right outside the restaurant.
I'm definitely doing that again!
